  USER FEEDBACK

Below is the user feedback of HovText. The list has been created as of 2006-02-16 and we will delete any none-HovText and non-English related feedback! We do accept both good as bad comments!

Your name/handle (optional)
Your comment (please note that all HTML codes etc. will get stripped)
Please do not write anything here (to prevent automatic spam)

Please note that your comment will have to get approved before it will become visible! There have been way too many bots and fake entries, so therefore I need to activate your comment. Please be patient with this as I expect this to take aprox 1 or 2 days before I do that (I can be slow).

HovText is a very cool tool - thank you.
One small problem, running v2.0, is when I occasionally need to uncheck "Active", and then later try to make it "Active" again, although it shows as "Active" it doesn't really work right, until I restart the PC. Any workaround or patch or newer version to address this?

Thanks again for a great tool!

Gerrit, 2008-12-26 08:55:31
Great tool, thanks!
Missing translations for German language:
Remove formatting on hotkey = Format. entfernen nach Schn.taste
Remove duplicate lines = Doppelte Zeilen entfernen
Filtering = Filter
Number of lines to show = Anzahl angezeigter Zeilen
Milliseconds to show = Anzeigedauer in Millisekunden
on first page, instead of "Datenbank" better use "Registry", to avoid confusion

Hi, I really enjoy the tool. Nevertheless I have one problem:
I can't see the history pop-up near the clock when I have my two monitors (notebook monitor + external dvi monitor) running at the same time.
When I disconnect the second monitor it works fine. Do you know a way to solve this problem?

Kent, 2008-09-09 17:29:49
On your English website, you might want to change "Freeback" to "Feedback."

Bert_IT64, 2008-09-04 11:10:36
Hi, seems you must update your SW on Nonags site!! They list only the 1.0 version!! If you agree please go to home page www.nonags.com and look for 'submit software' page. I cant't do it as I'm not the author, & if I do I could't rate it next!! ;-)

Bert (IT), 2008-09-04 10:26:10
Wonderful, i was tired from Office behaviour, and sayd to a colleague: why if we write a daemon for the clipboard? And after few seconds, I said to myself: but it might be already, it's a common problem... so i started googling around and after few minutes of goggle-ignoring linux debian bsd etc. references, i've found this little JEWEL and tested it. ^_^
IMHO it is almost perfect, but as always, after few happy use hours, I was get by a tought... the suggestion-mania virus!! :-))
What I noted is that many times, if you're copying and pasting while being into the SAME application, you would to keep formatting, but when you copy between different applications, you would prefer to strip it all down to simple text.
So I was asking myself (so I turn the question to the Authors of HovText) if it is possible to know wich app has put the data into the clipboard, and add a flag to HovText that leaves the data as it is if the source app is the same where we are pasting..... :-))
Thx for the very useful Thing, I looked for it on most dowload sites, then I rated your wonderful Piece highest!!! ;-)

Creepy Dude. Change the picture, quick.

Andi, 2008-04-17 18:18:42
Very good Idea. Looking for some tool like that for a long time. I hate the way the microsoft office products handles the formated text in the clipboards. Not anymore.

Albert, 2008-03-03 21:24:50
Dennis, I think what we (Robin and Tin) are asking for is rather than
A) replacing one keystroke (Ctrl-V) with two key strokes (Ctrl-Hotkey, Ctrl-V) to remove formatting and then paste

to instead
B) replace the one keystroke (Ctrl-V) with one keystroke (Ctrl-Hotkey) which both removes the formatting from a private hov-text version of the clipboard and pastes the stripped text. Then later if you still need to paste the data somewhere else with formatting you can still do Ctrl-V as usual. This would be the most flexible way to paste... and accomplish it with the fewest keystrokes. Also if you realize that you didnt mean to strip the formatting you dont have to go back and copy the original text over again - you just press Ctrl-V

Thanks for reading the suggestion

Robin - inside Options, you can use the "Remove formatting on hotkey" as this does exactly what you want

I love you guys !!! Thanks for this great software!! Keep it up, you really helped me alot.

ehab, 2008-01-26 19:20:42
unicode is not supported?

to reproduce:

1- HovText enabled.
2- Goto arabic site and copy
3- paste in mircosoft winword.

bad characters, eg:
expected
الأخ قائد الثورة يستقبل الرئيس " عمر بونغو "

result
الأخ قائد الثورة يستقبل الرئيس " عمر بونغو "

incorrect.

however, if pasted in a document already the file is set as UTF-8 then its oky.

can you please comment as to why copying unicode from sites and pasting into words fails.

thanks for any comment

Cant´t get i to work even though I spent some time bekause it would be wonderfull if it did!! So now I stopt trying!

Clint Kirk, 2007-12-03 16:55:03
I've just downloaded and tried your utility. It looks really useful! One enhancement suggestion... you know when you read a forum and someone pastes a URL which gets cut up into two or more lines? Well, it would be very handy if your utility could allow me to copy the multiple lines into the clipboard, press a hotkey, and paste these as one single line into the browser's address bar. What do you think?

Tin, 2007-11-10 19:39:18
Hi,

I have a suggested feature. Have the option for HovText paste stripping out text when the key WinKey-V is used. That way a person can still use CTRL-V for normal pasting.

pilferingbugger, 2007-08-14 07:33:20
Dude! Like, comment your code and stuff!
And like, your program doesn't work. Like, copy and paste with filtering enabled works just the same as without filtering enabled! Like, nothing happens!

Maybe the app aint broke, and I'm an ID10T. I RTFM, but it is worthless. So who can tell?

cndposey@netscape.net, 2007-05-10 21:30:20
Thank you for this wonderful little program. I just updated to 2.0 when I discovered that 1.0 was not working with Word 2003.

jenglish, 2007-03-21 02:34:05
This is a great utility! Thank you. However, even when the "remove leading/trailing linebreaks" box is checked (even where there are no linebreaks in the text I copied), when I paste, I still get an extra line break after I paste.

Jan halland, 2007-02-25 19:32:11
simple and usefull and grat! Thanks ! Even works fine in (good?) old Windows 95.

Ian Carbarns, 2007-02-14 10:37:07
Great utility. However, since installing it I have found that Word now crashes fairly frequently eg twice daily. If everyone suffered from this, you'd have a load of complaints. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Bruce Clemence, 2006-12-15 16:05:14
I love this utility! Have been looking for exactly what this does! Especially great for moving text between Rich Text and HTML e-mails and Journal items in Outlook. Incredibly useful - thank you!

Dennis/HovKlan, 2006-11-05 23:05:40
Robin - inside Options, you can use the "Remove formatting on hotkey" as this does exactly what you wants

Robin, 2006-11-03 22:42:08
What would be great would be a third option in the "Hotkey function" option box:"One time formatting removal".
This way for instance if the user chooses Ctrl+/ as a hotkey, he/she can use the normal Ctrl+v most of the time, and only when he/she needs the formatting stripped use Ctrl+/ instead.

Eric, 2006-10-10 22:36:26
This is great. Maybe I'll look into setting up a filter to extract phone number and address from my favourite yellow pages.
Thanks for sharing this application.

Magnus, 2006-07-21 19:12:16
The program is very useful to me.

I agree with Shane - I copy a lot from PDF's and a function that removes the annoying PDF line breaks (especially if you could toggle the function on and off) would make HovText a real winner.

malamsson, 2006-07-04 21:52:27
Thanks ;)
In 99% of the cut and paste I don't want to copy the format, now I don't have to be #¤%& angry every time I have to remove the format from the pasted data!

kanger, 2006-06-11 16:08:16
when will you support unicode?

shane, 2006-04-15 02:25:18
I would really like a join lines feature - copying text from sources such as pdf would be much nicer with this feature
